About Us
The Sing Fai Sports Club was established in 1987 after an International National
Women Volleyball Tournament was held in Toronto. This tournament was
sponsored by the Province of Ontario, Hyundai Car Canada, LuCliff Company
Limited, along with the assistance of the Ontario Volleyball Association. The
participants were from six countries: Canada, China, Cuba, Japan, South Korea and
the USA. This tournament was so successful, that the final match between China
& Cuba at the Varsity Stadium/ University of Toronto, was sold out. The success of
this tournament became the driving force in the creation of the Sing Fai Sports
Club.
The participation of the Chinese National Women Volleyball team was due mainly
to the personal effort and invitation of the late President of LuCliff Company
Limited, Mr. Clifford Wong. This was the first time for the Chinese Women
Volleyball team to compete in Canada. This team became the Women Volleyball
World Cup champions for five consecutive years.
Over the years, Sing Fai Sports Club has been continuously promoting sport
activities and programs for youths among different communities. For the younger
generation, the SFSC has been the proud sponsor of the 38th Scout Group for over
30 years, serving communities in Agincourt, Mississauga, Richmond Hill and
Toronto. It was a great honour that the SFSC was authorized to sell Olympic
Games (1996) tickets for the Chinese community held in Atlantic City USA. In
2005, Sing Fai Sports Club established the First Asian Community Games in
Ontario, and has become an annual event for not only Asian, but for ALL
communities in Canada.
Our Club is a not-for-profit organization and is sponsored by LuCliff Company
Limited and Sing Tao Newspaper Canada. With the hard work, commitment and
dedication of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee members, we are
able to achieve admirable results while contributing to our communities of a
multicultural society in Ontario.
